Baby Kay’s-Très Bon Cajun Food In Phoenix

That was some awesome food.

And music.

In the valley, it is hard to find actual, true, real live Cajun food. But Baby Kay’s does it just right. From gumbo to court bouillon (Coo Be-Yawn), the flavors are deep, soulful, and the portions filling. They don’t skimp on the roux or the rice, so don’t go on a low-carb-low-fat diet. It’s the perfect meal after a long ride training day! The Cajun Combination platter let me have three favorites: crawfish étouffée, jambalaya, and seafood gumbo. Oh, my gosh. So good. So filling ( for stomach and soul). Somehow, I managed room for the sweet potato fries on the side.

The setting is comfortable, not pretentious. On several nights a week, a lone guitarist play excellent blues that just makes everything feel right.

My regret? Not leaving enough room for the sweet potato pie. And I wish the beer selection was better and included some local valley micro’s.

Feeling like some Cajun? I’d recommend Baby Kay’s. It gets a 7 (would be a 10 if the beer selection was good).

Eat Healthy (and yummy)!
